Wusstest Du schon, dass....
...Arabisch die Amtssprache von 22 Ländern ist und von etwa 300
Millionen Muttersprachlern gesprochen wird?
...Arabisch die Religionssprache für mehr als ein Milliarde Muslims auf
der Welt ist und dass sie zu den sechs offiziellen Sprachen der UN gehört?
...das arabische Alphabet, das zweit meist benutzte Alphabet weltweit
nach Lateinisch ist?
...das die Arabischen Zahlen, die wir benutzen, nicht in den meisten
arabischen Ländern benutzt werden?!
...die Wörter Magazin, Ziffer, Knoten, Koffer, Zucker, Sofa, Satan,
Giraffe, Artischocke, Algebra, Alkohol, Alchemie und viele mehr aus dem
Arabischen stammen?

Das alles und mehr werden wir an einem gemütlichen Abend gemeinsam mit
einem Vortrag und anschließender Diskussion über die Arabische Sprache
erfahren. Köstliche arabische Snacks für den kleinen Hunger werden
angeboten. Du kannst die traditionelle arabische Wasserpfeife, genannt
Shisha, probieren. Der Vortrag wird in Englisch gehalten.

Die Veranstaltung wird am Donnerstag, den 16.04.09 in den Räumen 12/13
in den Baracken (Schwarzenbergerstr. 91) auf dem Campus um 17:00
stattfinden. *Bitte beachte: Die Veranstaltung findet nicht wie geplant
am 09.04.09 statt. Aus technischen Gründen müssen wir den Abend auf den
16.04.09 verschieben!*

around 300 mio. Arabic native speakers?
...Arabic is the religion language of more than one billion Muslims of

...the Arabic alphabet is the second most used alphabet worldwide after
Latin?
...the Arabic numbers, that we use, are not used in most of the Arabic
countries?!
...the words magazine, zero, cotton, cover, sugar, sofa, Satan, giraffe,
artichoke, algebra, alcohol, alchemy are Arabic loanwords in English?

We will get to know more about the Arabic language in a comfortable
evening with a presentation and a discussion. Delicious Arabic snacks
will be served. You will have the chance to try the traditional Arabic
hookah, aka Shisha. The presentation will be held in English.

The event will take place on Thursday the 16th of April, 2009 in the
rooms 12/13 of the wooden hut (Schwarzenbergerstr. 91) on the campus of
the university at 17:00. *Kindly note that the event will not take place
on the 9th of April as planed. For technical reasons, we had to
postpone it till Thursday, the 16th of April, 2009.*
